Tournament Results

Tournament 6

The final round! All six teams in attendance put on fantastic performances, resulting in an exciting day of lacrosse. A day of extremely close matches saw Bristol Bombers resume their spot at the top of the tournament table, after beating Southampton Ladies by goal difference, securing their position as league winners.

Congratulations to Bombers on their exemplary season! Well done to all players that participated in the South West league and we hope to see you again next year.

Tournament 5

Back to Westonbirt for an extremely windy day of lacrosse. Seven teams attended, resulting in a round-robin style tournament, with everyone playing each other.

In the penultimate tournament of the season, Cheltenham pulled out all of the stops and proved that Bristol Bombers can indeed be beaten, taking top spot for tournament number five. It was great to welcome back Oxford, with some great play putting them in 4th postion, just behind Bombers and Southampton and ahead of Birmingham, Bath and Plymouth.

Tournament 4

Tournament 4 was held at Cheltenham Ladies College. A change of surface from grass to astro saw some very fast paced games with quicker ball movement and difficult bouncing shots for the goalies to contend with.

Continuing on from the last half of the season, there were some very closely fought games, with Bristol Bombers 1 coming out on top with wins against Cheltenham, Birmingham and Warwick and a draw against Southampton Ladies, continuing their winning streak through to the second half of the season. Can they be beaten?

Tournament 3

Another fantastic day of lacrosse at Westonbirt in the last tournament before christmas. The morning session comprised of two mixed pools of 4 teams competing for positions in the afternoon groups. Bristol Bombers 1, Cheltenham Cougars, Birmingham and Southampton Ladies secured their places in group one and Bristol Bombers 2, Plymouth Uni, CSM and Bath City in group two.

There was success in the afternoon for both Bombers teams, with Bombers 1 winning group 1, remaining undefeated going into christmas, and Bombers 2 winning group 2, placing them 5th overall.

Umpires benefitted from mentoring from Paul Jenkins throughout the day, with lots of good feedback received.

A great tournament and chance for our ladies to practice ahead of regional trials - good luck to all of our South West club players that are trialling for the Senior teams!

Tournament 2

Tournament number two was greatly attended, with a total of 10 teams showing up to Westonbirt on a very cold, but sunny Sunday. Two groups of three and a group of four competed in the morning, with the top five teams moving into one group and the bottom five into another for the afternoon. The top group was won by Bristol Bombers 1, taking them 8 points clear at the top of the table. Birmingham had a brilliant day, finishing 2nd overall, meaning they are now joint third with Southampton in the overall standings, with Cheltenham ahead of the two by just one point. Bath City also built on previous performances, placing 4th on the day and moving up to 5th place in the league.

The second group had an equally exciting afternoon of lacrosse with lots of closely fought games. The Lions team, made up of Hawks and Bristol Uni players put out some great performances, putting them top of group two, followed by CSM and Bristol Bombers 2. Plymouth and Warwick Uni showed great promise in their first tournaments of the season and we look forwarding to seeing more from them in the upcoming tournaments.

Tournament 1

The first tournament of the season saw seven teams turn up to Westonbirt for a sunny day of lax, including newcomers Hawks, who had a fantastic day finishing mid table just above Birmingham, Oxford and Bath City.

Continuing the battle for top spot from last season, Bristol Bombers, Southampton Ladies and Cheltenham Cougars came out fighting. With Southampton drawing with both Bombers and Cheltenham, and Cheltenham just losing out to Bombers, the Bristolian ladies took first position, followed by Southampton in second place and Cheltenham in third.

Umpires on the day benefitted greatly from the mentoring provided by Paul Jenkins, including an umpire clinic over the lunch break – thanks Paul!

A great first tournament and we look forward to welcoming even more teams for round two!
